Brexit - what a year!

Vince Cable and the Liberal Democrats have at least been clear on Brexit from day one. 99% of us are against it. We call for a second referendum because the course set by a small majority in June 2016 is not the best for our country, for reasons known to all those willing to listen and accept expert opinion.

The last year has seen some progress in the percentage of the people expressing a voting intention for Liberal Democrats. it was not spectacular but steady. Brexit obscures all other matters and is not a simple Party Issue.

The Conservative drivers of this Brexit Train Wreck are deeply divided both locally and nationally, as hard Brexiteers, soft Brexiteers, hard Remainers and supporters of a People's Vote.

Labour is also divided between a Brexit-supporting leader who craves power at any cost: "the greater the mayhem the greater the opportunity" seems to be their motto, while the mass of party members seek a People's Vote - or do they??

We have been derided but never silenced and now a People's Vote is a strong possibility and it could be won. That would be great for Britain and our party and in time it will translate into the electoral victories we so deserve. This will come through perseverance, enthusiasm, members' support and focused hard graft - all of which we have in abundance.
