  • Equal Pay Act
    Article: May 26, 2020

Friday 29 May is the 50th anniversary of the enactment of the Equal Pay Act. The world has changed a lot in the ensuing 50 years, and although there is much more to achieve, the gender pay gap has narrowed considerably over that period. • Deaf Awareness Week
    Article: May 2, 2020

Elizabeth Shepherd writes about deafness and what we can do to help.

This year's Deaf Awareness Week is focusing on deafness that develops during life. It is estimated that 1 in 6 people in the UK are hard of hearing, or deaf. Deafness is invisible to most of the public, and can severely impact daily life for the deaf or hard of hearing. "Nobody understands how isolating deafness can be; it is not always a case of getting new hearing aids or watching subtitles", as an elderly person with acquired severe deafness recently told me.
