Welcome to the 'The Age of Stupid'11.16.00pm GMT Thu 5th Nov 2009 A local group of people, concerned about the lack of political action on climate change, is screening the film 'The Age of Stupid' at Chalfonts Community College on Tuesday 17th November at 7.30 pm. This must-see film highlights the growing impact of climate change on our planet. Starring Pete Postlethwaite, it looks back to the beginning of the 21st century from the year 2055 and considers the decisions that society took (or didn't take) and wonders about the failures to avert the effects of climate change. The Age of Stupid has generated an amazing reception internationally with star-studded premieres on all continents. It is particularly important to see the film now, in the run-up to the vital U.N. Climate Summit in Copenhagen in December. Leo Murray, media producer and lead animator for the Age of Stupid, will speak on the night and will hold a question and answer session after the showing of the film. If the media coverage of the issue of climate change makes you feel that there is nothing that people can do without politicians or legislation, then do come to see this amazing film, and to hear Leo speak, because we will focus particularly on what individuals and communities can get on with by themselves! For those who live in Chalfont St Peter, it is intended to involve the village in a scheme called transition towns (http://www.transitiontowns.org/) which is another way to make a positive difference at a local level. We look forward to telling you more on the night. There is no charge to see the film but it comes at a cost (which is being covered by the event organisers) so contributions on the evening would be appreciated.
