Lib Dem Leader Urges Tories to Speed Up the Speed Limit Review

9.49.00pm GMT Sat 25th Nov 2006

Cllr Mary Baldwin, leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Bucks County Council has called for urgent action on the County Council's speed limit review. Her call came following news that the county-wide review which began in 2003, is now delayed by FIVE years and already FOUR times over budget.

Cllr Baldwin said "these delays and spiralling costs are simply unacceptable. It's outrageous that it's going to cost so much and take so long to complete. Since 2003, the Conservative ruling group on Bucks County Council has never regarded the speed limit review as a priority and we are now seeing the consequences of that political decision."

Cllr Baldwin added "the Council should have put more resources into the speed limit review from day one, which would have kept the cost down and enabled them to finish more quickly."
