MP's Expenses: It's all too easy to poke fun

Thu 21st May 2009

It's all too easy to poke fun at most MPs, including our own MP for Chesham & Amersham.

MP's Expenses - Lib Dems Push for Change

Tue 12th May 2009

The Liberal Democrats have long argued that the expenses system needs to change and we have fought against attempts to restrict freedom of information requests about MPs' expenses. In April Nick Clegg put forward radical proposals for a new way forward that went beyond what Gordon Brown or David Cameron suggested.

Tories have a dreadful record over school speed zones

Thu 18th Dec 2008

Councillor Colston's reported comments ('Plea for 20mph safety zones') beg a serious political question. What urgent steps are the Bucks County Council Conservative leadership (of which Cllr Colston is a part), going to take to ensure that school slow zones are prioritised and that the resources necessary to implement such a policy are found? Not for the first time in your newspaper, local Conservative councillors are giving the impression that they have nothing to do with the policies and track record of their own administration. But the sad truth is that in Great Missenden, we are still waiting for many of the very basic and cheap road safety measures promised publicly to voters by Councillor Colston before the last county council elections in 2005 and for which there is 'no money'.

Online Petition in Support of School 20mph Zones

Wed 10th Dec 2008

Chiltern Liberal Democrats have launched a petition in support of "slow zones" around our local schools. 20mph school zones has been official Liberal Democrat policy in Buckinghamshire for many years. Unfortunately, the ruling Conservative party on Bucks County Council has done nothing to implement this common-sense measure.

Speed past schools should be limited to 20 miles per hour.

Lib Dems See Red Over Green Signs

Tue 25th Nov 2008

Great Missenden, Prestwood and Heath End Lib Dems have been finding out just how much of our Council tax money is being wasted on pointless County Council expenditure.

"On issue after issue, the Liberal Democrats have led the fight for real change while the Conservatives lagged behind. On the economy, on the environment and now on the real reform of politics, it is the Lib Dems that are offering something different."
